Gil Pielin is a retired high school teacher having taught for 17 years in the Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and another 24 years at Senior High School of North Allegheny School District. He taught Biology, Chemistry and Environment Science. Since retiring, he has been providing backyard environment workshops for local adult groups.
Gil received a mailing from Saint Lawrence Seminary in 1989 and has been a faithful supporter ever since. He said our commitment to removing financial barriers for the families of interested and qualified young men desiring to attend “struck a chord” with him.
He believes that the Capuchins and staff at Saint Lawrence are practicing “a truly Christian concept-that any young man can attend regardless of their ability to pay.
He believes so strongly that Saint Lawrence Seminary provided our students with a good Catholic education and vocational discernment guidance that he has included Saint Lawrence Seminary in his will. Gil believes that “Saint Lawrence Seminary is a great investment in the future of Holy Mother Church”.
Gil concluded by saying, “I wish there were more schools like Saint Lawrence Seminary throughout the country. Providing our youth with moral, faith-filled education produces generations of men equipped to handle the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
